Gu Zhenzhen (Alaia) 顧真禎


Gu Zhenzhen is now studying visual art at Hong Kong Baptist University. Over the past few years, Gu's artworks have focused on painting: oil painting, watercolour, Chinese painting, and printmaking; most of the paintings are about society, culture, and landscapes.


She has also written Chinese papers on art history and watercolour. The art history article is about the study of domestic life in "Spring Dawn in the Han dynasty's Palace", and due to the influence of Soviet-style gardens in her hometown, the article is about the study of watercolour paintings of Chinese garden landscapes.

Gu Zhenzhen's recent work focuses on the exploration of Chinese gardens, and she continues to experiment with new art forms through the process, incorporating nature and history into her art, which she sees as an inevitable part of all kinds of art.

顧真禎現就讀於香港浸會大學視覺藝術系。 她的藝術創作以繪畫為主,涉及油畫、水彩、國畫、版畫等。顧氏撰寫過關於藝術史和水彩畫的中文論文,文章研究了《漢宮春曉》中的家居生活。由於受其家鄉蘇式園林的影響,顧氏的文章多為研究以中國園林風景為主題的水彩畫。顧真禎近期作品專注於中式園林的探索,在摸索中不斷嘗試新的藝術形式,她將自然和歷史融入藝術,她認為跨學科的創作是她藝術創作的必然方向。

What is the shape of Jiangnan? is created from calligraphy and ink drawings. The gardens in Jiangnan, especially Suzhou Gardens, are regarded as a model of Chinese garden art and are considered iconic within the landscapes of Jiangnan scenery. Showing both extraordinary aesthetic value and exquisite craftsmanship, they also reflect the ancient people's pursuit of the philosophical ideas of a harmonious coexistence and unity between heaven and mankind.

In the interplay of brush and ink, I aspire to capture the elegance and profound philosophical underpinnings of garden aesthetics through the disciplined yet free-flowing strokes of calligraphy, and the use of garden vistas via ink wash painting depict the ethereal beauty of such a landscape. The gardens I depict are not just physical spaces but also landscapes of the mind. Although you cannot reach the garden, it is like wandering through a landscape of inked mountains, bamboo forests, and quiet ponds.

“何以江南”由書法和水墨畫創作而成。園林是江南風景的標誌性景觀。江南園林,尤其是蘇州園林,被譽為中國園林藝術的典範。它們不僅表現出非凡的審美價值和精湛的工藝,還反映了古人對和諧共生、天人合一的哲學思想的追求。在筆墨的交融中,我渴望通過書法嚴謹而又灑脫的筆觸,捕捉園林美學的優雅氣質和深邃的哲學底蘊,用園林景色的水墨畫描繪園林景觀的空靈之美。我所描繪的園林不僅是物理空間,也是心靈的風景。雖未到達園林,卻彷彿徜徉在水墨山林、竹林幽潭之中。
